Cubes, $2.99, is a pretty cool app. It bases around a tetris type game.
What you start out with is a block, then you tap a series of blocks that are the same color, see what they’re worth, and then double tap it if you really want that to be gone, and the points added up. It’s difficult at first, but once you get used to it you get pretty decent, also wherever down is, the blocks fall, so if your device is tilted on it’s side towards the right, that’s down, kinda like Trism.
The great thing about this game is that you can either have levels, normal game or you can have a quick game, which is where you just try to get as many points as possible. In quick games you can choose the difficulty level.
There’s also my favorite, local high-scores! But if you insist, there’s global high-scores that sync everytime you open the app.
I especially like the interface used to portray menus and such. They use little pop up things that make it nice and clean. The only thing that doesn’t look the best are the high-scores, but that could be fixed in a future update. Also, you can switch the colors of the background behind the cubes, and the color of the cubes.
Oh yeah, and here are just some instructions from the app itself:
Pros and cons
Ease of use
Cool game, combo of trism and a 3D-like tetris
Only 3 bucks!
Never gets old, never never never
The high-scores don’t look the greatest
Sometimes the blocks don’t fall
Kinda hard to get passed further levels
Overall a 4 out of 5 on the scale of goodness.
